Gavin Carr is one of the UK’s leading choral conductors, renowned for the vocal sonority and intensity of his performances .

With many recordings of contemporary music to his name, he has a particular affinity for working with large-scale choruses at the highest level (Philharmonia Chorus, Bournemouth Symphony Chorus). In 2025 he brings his Hiroshima War Requiem project to fruition, with the first performance of Britten’s masterpiece at the Phoenix Hall in the Peace Park at Hiroshima, to mark 80 years since the devastation of the 1945 A-bomb.
